Pigeon Forge is a great place for all types! Whether you are with friends, that special someone, celebrating an anniversary with your spouse, spending quality time with the kids, or getting the entire extended family together; there is something for everyone. But if you are looking for one place in particular that can be enjoyed by all, you must visit Dollywood! The following includes a small sampling of the exciting rides and attractions you will find while visiting Dollywood in Pigeon Forge:

Rides – Dollywood in Pigeon Forge is full of rides. There is Granny’s Garden and The Pig Pen for the little ones. This area features a pop-jet fountain to play in as well as several structures for climbing, sliding, and playing.  For those that tend to get overheated while having fun, there is Blazing Fury! An 1880’s town is just minutes away from being engulfed in a roaring blaze. Those brave enough to fight the flames will ride an indoor roller coaster through the town saving it by splashing the town with enough water to douse the flames. If that isn’t exciting enough try Dare Devil Falls! This boat ride will take you over a 60 foot waterfall at 60 miles an hour! If you think keeping your lunch down should be a challenge, try the Scrambler! This ride spins its riders in every direction! Along with the Scrambler, the Wonder Wheel will bring back memories of the old town fair and will allow riders a chances to slow down and take in a bird’s eye view of the park.

Hands-on-History – Visit Calico Falls Schoolhouse to experience an 1890’s one-room schoolhouse replica. Visitors can see the chalk and slate the students would have used, a wood stove used to warm the pupils, and the desks the students of East Tennessee would have sat in inside this nineteenth century classroom. Ride the Dollywood Express and experience a vital form of the past’s transportation. This authentic 110-ton coal-fired steam engine takes you on a five mile mountain excursion through the hills of the Smoky Mountains in Pigeon Forge. The early settlers of Pigeon Forge relied on this sort of transportation to get in and out of their mountain home. For a look into Dolly’s upbringing, visit the Smoky Mountain Home. This two-room house is a replica of the home she grew up in as a child in Locust Ridge.

Museums – Dolly decided to share her awards, costumes, and artifacts with her Dollywood visitors in her Chasing Rainbows museum. This interactive museum allows you to peruse the journey Dolly’s life and career have taken her on. Try on one of her wigs and see how it fits. Take the stage with Dolly and her famous duet partner Porter Wagoner. You’ve seen Dolly’s humble childhood home, now visit the bus that served as her home on wheels that took her all across America! Set your eyes on the luxurious leather imported from Germany and the beautiful cherry cabinets. You will also see three bunks, two bathrooms and shower this spectacular bus boasts. Don’t forget to visit the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame! Here you will learn about the pioneers, who took Gospel music around the world! Tour their buses and learn where this genre of music got its start.
